INTERSTITIAL CYSTITIS

Dear Dr. Roby,

I wish I lived in Texas so I could be seen by you! After reading your website in detail, it sounds like you have hit the nail on the head with the hormone imbalance for IC patients. I have many questions, but I’ll limit it for now, as I know I’m not a patient, but would greatly appreciate your opinion~~

1)I had the right side of my thyroid ablated (due to numerous nodules) in February this year, expecting my left side to kick in. By May I became lethargic and then extremely ill. My endocrinologist never mentioned that having no thyroid could lower my immune system. Several weeks later, (and after several blood tests showing my TSH level rising rapidly) he put me on levoxythrine, which did seem to bring me back to normal. On Aug. 3, I came down with symptoms of IC and have had them from mild to severe since then.

My question is this…..could the thyroid situation have caused IC ?? due to thyroid hormones.

2) is there anyone you know in Southern California that does what you do?? I need to find someone here!

3) if not, can my urologist do the tests you do and treat me with what you offer, the progesterone dilutions??

Thank you in advance for your time,
Jane

Dear Jane,

Please let me apologize for taking so long to answer you. Somehow, your email got lost when it was forwarded to me, and it was only today that I found it.

I, too, wish that you lived here.

It is, however, just a hop, skip and jump, from Southern California on Southwest Airlines, to our offices in Austin and San Antonio. There are nonstops from LA and San Diego, at least. Maybe even from Burbank, Orange County and Ontario. Most of our patients from California, make it an overnight stay. They come in on the first available flight, spend the major part of the day in our office, and depending on flight schedules, either leave on a late afternoon flight, with everything that they need to begin to get well, or an early flight, the next morning.

We can email a lab slip, so that you can have the blood test done locally. It usually takes about ten days for the results to get back to us, but you can call and check on it and have someone go over them, explain them to you, and discuss the options, as we see them. It would be best if you came to see us here in Texas. While Dr. Roby is extremely generous in sharing all of his experience. research and knowledge with other physicians, very few of them will take advantage of his offers, and seem to feel affronted when their patients suggest it. If he’s right, then they are wrong, and they don’t want to take that chance. It would require that they learn something new. The fact that it could benefit all of their patients, is immaterial. Besides, who would they treat and who would pay them, if all of their patients got well? (That last is my own, personal opinion; not to be confused with that of Dr. Roby). Dr. Roby doesn’t charge doctors for this training, ever.

It is unfortunate, that there is no one in California that we can refer you to, and Texas doctors are prohibited to diagnose, treat, or prescribe for a patient that they have not personally examined, in person. We are always looking for local partners in other states. If you think that your urologist would be interested, by all means ask him/her to contact Dr. Roby. Call him at: 512-372-8905, or email to roby@drroby.com. Dr. Roby doesn’t charge doctors for this training, ever.

We accept most health insurance, including Medicare, Military and Medicaid. If we cannot have you feeling significantly better, before you leave our office, the visit is free. We have a basic money back guarantee for all patients. If you decide to follow the protocol, and at anytime decide that it isn’t working for you, just ask, and all of the money you have paid to us, will be refunded.

The answer to your question about the cause of IC, would be that Dr. Roby has found the fundamental cause of most of the autoimmune disorders which we treat is a hormone imbalance. Very often, we find that the not only do these patients have an imbalance, they also manifest a true allergic reaction to one or more of their own hormones. It is also called, hormone (usually progesterone and adrenaline) mediated hypersensitivity. This will inevitably, show up in the blood test and in the further diagnotic tests that we do once you get to our clinic.

The onset of the disorder had already happened. It only became noticable when you lost part of your thyroid, which was already challenged, and it affected your immune system. When you have one hormone out of balance, other hormones will try to compensate for it. Hormones are involved in every body function. Hormones run your body.

You can go to www.Amazon.com, and download the first chapter of Dr. Roby’s new book, “Maybe It Is All In Your Head…And You Are NOT Crazy”.

Then go back to our website: www.robyinstitute.com, and read the following sections, in this order:

1) Hormone Imbalance. This will give you a good, solid overview of what is happening in your body, why it is happening, and how we can help you to get control of your body again and stay in control.

2) Food Allergy. Why we eat and drink the foods that we do, and how to avoid the problems that it causes. 3) Airborne Allergy. You can’t do much about what is in the air that you breathe outside, or the soil where our food is grown, or the water that we drink…but you can definitely do something about what is inside your home. This section discusses, among other things, how to purify the indoor air, using items that are locally available, inexpensive and effective. Just the fact that you can breathe clean air while you are inside, can do wonders to increase your well being. If you find that you have more questions after you have read all of that, just email them to me. I’ll be happy to go over all of them with you. By the time you do finish your reading assignment, you will know more about hormones and allergies than any doctor except Dr. Roby. Hormones and allergies are so intricately interrelated that it is very difficult to see where one begins, and the other ends. Of course, this is the main reason that Dr. Roby chooses to treat them both at the same time. He has found that he gets optimal results in a shorter time that way. Once the hormones start getting back into balance, the symptoms just sort of …fade away.

Please feel free to email me at anytime, with questions, doubts comments on anything that I have said or that you have read on our website.

Best regards,

Dorothy Dreux
