Dermatitis and Hormone Allergy

Location: Clayton DE

Your Question: Dear Dr Roby,
I have been looking for someone who can help me for like 4-5 years now. I dont know where to begin but to make a long story as short as possible, I constantly break out in hives all over. I have told different doctors that the only thing that is consistent with the breakouts is that they get worse when it comes onto that time of month but they are always dismissing me, telling me it is stress or I am eating something or soap, I have been telling my friends that I truly believe I am allergic to myself so I decided to finally look on the internet for help and found you. would you please help me.
Thank you
D.

Dear Ms. D.:

I you go to my website and read the section on “hormone imbalance” I think you see many things that relate to you. In my book there is quite a bit about “autoimmune progesterone dermatitis” which is a more severe form of what you have. You are quite correct about being allergic to yourself. You have an allergy to your own hormone, progesterone. We can block that using SLIT (sublingual drops).

Warm regards,

Dr. Roby

SLIT (sublingual allergy drops)

location: Ft. Worth, TX.

Your Question: Do you know of any Doctors in the DFW area who
use you method of treating Allergies and Asthma.
I am allergic to EVERYTHING except horses and
rabbits. I have tried Allergy injections without
satisfaction. In April I have another appointment
with my Allergist. I do not wish to begin the
injections again.

Sincerely awaiting your response.

Thanks so much,

M.

Dear Ms. M.:

I do not know of any Dallas area doctors using the sublingual (SLIT) method. There are a number in Houston. You might wish to come here. We do the SLIT allergy test, the consultation and education and provide all the antigen vials you need for one year for $750.00. No insurance will cover this as it is considered “experimental”. Using the same antigen as all allergists use we prepare “drops” instead of “shots”. The method of delivery is not yet approved by the FDA.

You would be here for about three hours and that would give you everything you need for one year. Most patients do not need a second year of desensitization.

Call us at 800-842-6349 for an appointment.

Warm regards,

Dr. Roby

Interstitial Cystitis in Males

YourQuestion: Hi Doctor Roby,

I am 40 years old male has been diagnosed IC last year on August. Urologist confirmed the symptoms and reaction of my pain by completing a systoscopy procedure and I am on the medication Elmiron for last six month. I had very difficulty urinating right before the test and I was in catheter for a week. After that i used to get mild pain on my left side of lower stomach and kidney area but recently everything changed. from last week I m having a sever pain and burning sensation all over my lower stomach area and frequent urination with pain.
When i saw your website and treatment procedure for IC one thing i have noticed that all of the patient are woman from different age group and I was wondering if you have had any male patient that has been treated successfully who was suffering from IC.
I would like to get to know more about your treatment and diagnosis that may help to reduce my pain and suffering in long run. Since I am a out of town patient and if I want to test those allergy here in my town what kind of test are you going to recommend before I take any medicine that you prescribe for this dieses. If you can give me the list of test that I need to get it done with my own physician’s place that would be great. I definitely would like to see you in person but if I can bring the test result with me at the time of visit it will save my time to get back home quickly.
So, please I need your advise, suggestion and feedback to control my aggressive symptoms.

I will look forward to hearing soon from you.

Regards,

D. in Georgia

Dear Mr. D.

We have been quite successful treating men with IC. I have only had a few cases, maybe a dozen over the last couple of years; but, they have all cleared nearly completely.

The tests we need are psa, testosterone (total and free), estrone, DHEA and a complete blood count (includes hemoglobin and hematocrit).

I look forward to seeing you. Read my book and try the “avoid eight” food avoidance diet. Also, try to walk at a slow pace for one hour each evening as close to bedtime as possible.

Warm regards,

Dr. Roby

Hormone Allergy
Progesterone Mediated Hypersensitivity
Skin Rash on Neck and Face

I had a rash on my neck from trying a cleanse for my skin and after a
couple of weeks my neck started itching really badly. I was raised to use
natural things so I was putting Emu oil on my neck thinking that would
help the dryness, which it did, but never solved the problem. I had eczuma
when I was younger and use to get bad flare ups so I thought that’s all it
was. That’s why I went so long without doing anything about it. After
about 3 weeks of no improvement I asked Dr. Roby about it and he told me
to come in and see him so I did and he tested me with different hormone dilutions. He said that since it was mainly on my neck and face that indicated a “progesterone mediated hypersensitivity” or “hormone allergy”.
I went home and started using homeopathic progesterone drops faithfully and within 48 hours my neck was about 90% cleared up.
I had seen a major improvement and the redness was gone. It had gotten so bad that it started developing on my face. I’m happy that I went to him when I did because it could have developed into something worse. It made me
uncomfortable because people kept asking me why my neck was so red.

This a typical area for progesterone reactions. The key to hormone allergy is the fact that the symptoms get worse during the week before the period. That is pretty clearly a reaction to the hormone progesterone. There is a large body of literature going back 80 years describing this type of hormone allergy. It relates to premenstrual asthma and premenstrual migraine. My paper on Hormone Allergy was published in

The American Journal of Reproductive Immunology

in 2007 (see this paper on the website). We treat these conditions using weak dilutions of progesterone or estrogen or both (0.00001mg to 0.1mg in sublingual drops).

IC and Infertility

Sweden

YourQuestion: Hi, I have had IC/urethritis for 3 years and have tried 6 IVF:s during that period. When I read your description of the illness IC I fully recognise the symptoms, however during my period I feel full recover. No pains. I assume that a hormonal imbalance may affect my abilities to be fertile. All IVf:s have been succesfull of retreiving eggs and also embryos. But they allways “die” when replanted in me. This is my big sorrow. IC, I can survive, however painful it is. I also live in Sweden, can you help me?

Regards,

The fact that your symptoms clear up during your period indicates an allergy to progesterone. This is the hormone that starts your period…the PMS hormone. Progesterone is the drug we prescribe for someone to cause a period. You are hypersensitive to that hormone, the very one your body makes for that purpose.

Therefore it can cause the IC symptoms but it can also cause a period, whether you are pregnant or not. Read my sections on our infertility studies as well as those of Dr. Alen Beer (see on my website). We and Dr. Beer were quite successful at treating infertility by blocking the progesterone mediated hypersensitivity with homeopathic doses of progesterone. We do it with sublingual doses, Dr. Beer used intradermal injections. See Dr. Beer’s book “Is Your Body Baby Friendly”.

Dr. Roby

IC

I began having IC symptoms when I was 5 months pregnant. Pressure, bloating, burning in my lower abdomen, lower back, vaginally, down my leg, etc. After 6 weeks the symptoms went away only to return once again one year later. After seeing several doctors including urologists, urogynocologists, regular allergists, etc… I was put on antibiotics and pain killers. Six months later I began physical therapy with one of the top pelvic floor therapists in the country. I was told due to stress and my history of allergies and asthma my muscles were tight and had major connective tissue problems. After a year of PT I was only maybe 30% better. Then I began to see another Pelvic pain specialist. Only to continue with my symptoms. I tried acupuncture, chiropractic, massages, and anything and everything to help me be pain free. I had another baby and during the pregnancy my pain was bad. Finally, I began the pill in June of 09 and my symptoms began to decrease. This was a huge “AH HA” moment. I realized this has something to do with hormones. I researched and researched which led me to Dr. Roby’s website. When the site talked about “hormone allergy” and IC.. I knew this was something huge. I grew up with horrific asthma and though I have outgrown many of the symptoms, I still suffer from allergies. I emailed Dr. Roby and got an IMMEDIATE response. The next thing I knew my husband and I were on a flight to Austin. He began explaining to us the connection with hormones and allergies. I also read his book which was HUGE…. I finally had answers. The adrenalin, food allergies, all of it. When we were in his office everyone was very nice and Dr. Roby was very straight forward and insightful. I just wanted to give him a hug. Talk about adrenalin. I was through the roof because I knew this was going to be a huge part of my healing… I finally was on the right path. It has been a month since I have seen Dr. Roby. We are in constant communication with tweaking the progesterone drops. My IC symptoms have greatly decreased and now we are working on some other symptoms I am experiencing. It is so wonderful to have a doctor who I can call at anytime to help me with any questions or concerns. He truely cares and is so willing to work with you. I am not 100% but I am finally on the right path and it has been only a little less than one month. Thank you Dr. Roby.. you truly saved me in so many ways. CB, Chicago.

Autoimmune Progesterone Dermatitis (APD). This is a severe form of progesterone allergy, or hormone allergy, or progesterone mediated progesteroane hypersensitivity.

This is a severe form of progesterone allergy, or hormone allergy, or progesterone mediated progesteroane hypersensitivity. Severe forms can cause so much throat swelling that a severe (anaphylactic) reaction can occur and some deaths have been reported. Milder forms, which I see, almost always involve red skin on the chin and cheeks (think Roseacia that gets worse around the menstrual cycle). This typically appears on the bosom and neck, the cheeks and chin and sometimes the forehead and across the top of the back. Thing that tells you it is hormone allergy (usually to progesterone) is that it gets worse during the premenstrual period, better when the period begins. We deal with this by using sublingual drops of progesterone (homeopathic doses, 0.00005mg) which often blocks the problem entirely. For more about this read my section on “hormone imbalance” on the website. Questions anyone?

We are seeing more cases of interstitial cystitis and fibromyalgia lately. When we measure hormones we find these women have low levels of estradiol and testosterone. When we add those back, using bioidentical hormones, the results are usually quite good. LSD (long, slow, distance) is always part of the winning formula.
