HEADACHES FOR 10 MONTHS IN CENTER OF FOREHEAD; FREQUENT STOMACHACHES; DIFFICULTY WITH EYES AND BALANCE; NECK, RIBS, NECK AND SHOULDER PAIN

location: Garrettsville, Ohio

Your Question: My 16 year old daughter has been suffering form daily headaches for 10 months now. It all started with a headache and throat inffection. Her throat cleared up, but the headache has not gone away. It is always in the center of her forehead, some days it’s a 2 or 3 but many days more like a 8 or 9. She also has frequent stomache aches. Has been having alot of problems with her ribs and back going out.

The chiropractor suggested seeing a neurologist, because after examing her, found out that she has a real hard time with doing things with her eyes closed, ex, walking heel to toe, finger to nose, etc. like being drunk. With eyes open is fine. She has been through massage therapy and physical therapy beacause she has alot of hurting in her neck and shoulders. Doctors say she has alot of tension in base of head and neck. This did not offer any relief.

The neurologist has her on Elavil and Topamax but this to has not offered any relief. When she has the bad headaches 8 or 9 all she wants to do is sleep. Sometimes all weekend. She is very active in sports. The doctors were saying tension headaches and to let her participate in sports, that it might help since she enjoys her sports so much. All I have seen is her performance in sports declining and same with her academics, was always straight A student now some B’s and close to C’s in there too.

She has had a ct-scan and 2 MRI’s which show nothing. Blood work as far as cbc and such are fine. Hormone levels are in range. Any suggestions, I’m very frustrated and don’t know what to do next and so is she. We had started keeping a food journal but didn’t see anything that would be a contributing factor. Please help!!!

Thank you
HR

Dear Cynthia,

We see many people with this type of problem. Your daughter seems to be highly adrenalized, most serious athletes are, you know. Having the throat infection and headache, might seem to have been the beginning of this circle of stress-pain-stress-pain, but it is even more likely that she was born with a hormone imbalance. Very often the imbalance doesn’t present itself until the child enters puberty, and it had not been recognized because she was always so active. Athletes usually ignore minor irritations such as pain, because the sport is more important to them, and they don’t want anything to interfere with the joy of the game. It would probably have shown up eventually, probably by the end of her twenties. What Dr. Roby has found over the years is that in cases like this one, it is most often a combination of allergies and hormone imbalance, which he treats simultaneously.

It is pretty amazing to discover how tightly interrelated. Anyone can become allergic to anything, at any time, without prior notice, including the hormones twhich are produced by the person’s own body as well as foods or airbornes. Hormones and allergy need to be looked at in this context. An allergic reaction to one’s own hormones is called “hormone mediated hypersensitivity”. It can be caused by any hormone, but we find that it is most common with progesterone, and adrenalin combo.

Before going much further with this, I would suggest that you go back to our website and read the first chapter of Dr. Roby’s new book, “Maybe It Is All In Your Head…And You Are NOT Crazy!”; or just order the whole book from www.Amazon.com. Then, read or reread, these three website sections, in this order: 1) Hormone Imbalance. It will tell you how we look at these problems, why it is going on, how we can help you and your daughter, get back in control of the situation…and stay there. It will give you an overview, of how we look at these problems, why it is happening, and how we can give you and your daughter the tools that you need to regain control of her life and keep it under control. It will also, make you more knowledgable about the body, the role of hormones in our lives than any doctor you have ever seen. 2) Food Allergy. Will teach you how foods can make everything better of worse. Why we do or don’t eat certain foods. How we make our food choices, without even thinking about them. 3) Airborne Allergy. There is not much that we can do to control the outside air pollution, but we can certainly control the air inside our homes. You will find suggestions on how to control your home with tools that are easy to find locally, that are both inexpensive and easy to use.

Dr. Roby’s protocol actually has a medical side, using the bioidentical hormones, if indicated, allergy treatments with antigens which are applied with sublingual drops that are noninvasive, safe and easy to use. There is also a nonmed part, as well, and if you can get your daughter to go ahead and start doing it, I will assure you that she will feel 50% better, within 30 days. She won’t like doing it, but it will dissipate the excessive adrenalin that is a really big part of her problem.

MOVEMENT: As follows: 1 hour of looong, slooow distance, on a treadmill, indoors in the morning and 1 hour of the same LSD in the evening, just before bedtime. How slow? At about 1 mph. I know…borrring! It isn’t for fun, it is for the headaches; they aren’t fun, either.

DIET: Very simple diet. Low in carbs, low in fat. We like the South Beach Diet because of the number of food choices given. Weight Watchers is also good.

SPIRITUALITY: Hers, not ours. Whatever makes her relax, and in touch with herself. Meditation, prayer, yoga, Pilates (my personal favorite). Time to be inside of herself, thinking only about her health. Do it every day.

We would like to hear from you about her progress, and so that we can give more suggestions if she needs them. Of course, the real alternative, would be to bring her here for testing and treating. Unfortunately, physicians in Texas are prohibited from diagnosing, treating or prescribing for any patient who has not been seen in person. If you think that you might want to bring her here, we can email a lab slip for the bloodwork to be done locally. The blood test takes about 10 days to get back to us. You can call us at that time, and someone will go over the results and explain them to you. We take almost all health care plans, including Medicare, Medcaid and Military. She would need to come here for the initial visit, and once a year for retesting. Almost everything else can be managed by phone and email. Since there is nothing in any of our antigens that can possibly harm anyone, we can give our patients much more liberty. Drops under the tongue and out the door, everyday! No sitting for an hour in an allergy office to make sure that no one has overdosed them. I like that.

There are patients from all over the world coming here for treatment, many of our patients are from foreign countries, as well as out of state. We are able to make it pretty easy for anyone who wants, to come and visit us. Give the schedulers a call for more information at: 800-842-6349, they’ll be happy to help.

Please email me if you find that you have more questions, or need clarification of anything that you have read, or I have said. Thanks for sharing your problems with us.

INTERSTITIAL CYSTITIS

Dear Dr. Roby,

I wish I lived in Texas so I could be seen by you! After reading your website in detail, it sounds like you have hit the nail on the head with the hormone imbalance for IC patients. I have many questions, but I’ll limit it for now, as I know I’m not a patient, but would greatly appreciate your opinion~~

1)I had the right side of my thyroid ablated (due to numerous nodules) in February this year, expecting my left side to kick in. By May I became lethargic and then extremely ill. My endocrinologist never mentioned that having no thyroid could lower my immune system. Several weeks later, (and after several blood tests showing my TSH level rising rapidly) he put me on levoxythrine, which did seem to bring me back to normal. On Aug. 3, I came down with symptoms of IC and have had them from mild to severe since then.

My question is this…..could the thyroid situation have caused IC ?? due to thyroid hormones.

2) is there anyone you know in Southern California that does what you do?? I need to find someone here!

3) if not, can my urologist do the tests you do and treat me with what you offer, the progesterone dilutions??

Thank you in advance for your time,
Jane

Dear Jane,

Please let me apologize for taking so long to answer you. Somehow, your email got lost when it was forwarded to me, and it was only today that I found it.

I, too, wish that you lived here.

It is, however, just a hop, skip and jump, from Southern California on Southwest Airlines, to our offices in Austin and San Antonio. There are nonstops from LA and San Diego, at least. Maybe even from Burbank, Orange County and Ontario. Most of our patients from California, make it an overnight stay. They come in on the first available flight, spend the major part of the day in our office, and depending on flight schedules, either leave on a late afternoon flight, with everything that they need to begin to get well, or an early flight, the next morning.

We can email a lab slip, so that you can have the blood test done locally. It usually takes about ten days for the results to get back to us, but you can call and check on it and have someone go over them, explain them to you, and discuss the options, as we see them. It would be best if you came to see us here in Texas. While Dr. Roby is extremely generous in sharing all of his experience. research and knowledge with other physicians, very few of them will take advantage of his offers, and seem to feel affronted when their patients suggest it. If he’s right, then they are wrong, and they don’t want to take that chance. It would require that they learn something new. The fact that it could benefit all of their patients, is immaterial. Besides, who would they treat and who would pay them, if all of their patients got well? (That last is my own, personal opinion; not to be confused with that of Dr. Roby). Dr. Roby doesn’t charge doctors for this training, ever.

It is unfortunate, that there is no one in California that we can refer you to, and Texas doctors are prohibited to diagnose, treat, or prescribe for a patient that they have not personally examined, in person. We are always looking for local partners in other states. If you think that your urologist would be interested, by all means ask him/her to contact Dr. Roby. Call him at: 512-372-8905, or email to roby@drroby.com. Dr. Roby doesn’t charge doctors for this training, ever.

We accept most health insurance, including Medicare, Military and Medicaid. If we cannot have you feeling significantly better, before you leave our office, the visit is free. We have a basic money back guarantee for all patients. If you decide to follow the protocol, and at anytime decide that it isn’t working for you, just ask, and all of the money you have paid to us, will be refunded.

The answer to your question about the cause of IC, would be that Dr. Roby has found the fundamental cause of most of the autoimmune disorders which we treat is a hormone imbalance. Very often, we find that the not only do these patients have an imbalance, they also manifest a true allergic reaction to one or more of their own hormones. It is also called, hormone (usually progesterone and adrenaline) mediated hypersensitivity. This will inevitably, show up in the blood test and in the further diagnotic tests that we do once you get to our clinic.

The onset of the disorder had already happened. It only became noticable when you lost part of your thyroid, which was already challenged, and it affected your immune system. When you have one hormone out of balance, other hormones will try to compensate for it. Hormones are involved in every body function. Hormones run your body.

You can go to www.Amazon.com, and download the first chapter of Dr. Roby’s new book, “Maybe It Is All In Your Head…And You Are NOT Crazy”.

Then go back to our website: www.robyinstitute.com, and read the following sections, in this order:

1) Hormone Imbalance. This will give you a good, solid overview of what is happening in your body, why it is happening, and how we can help you to get control of your body again and stay in control.

2) Food Allergy. Why we eat and drink the foods that we do, and how to avoid the problems that it causes. 3) Airborne Allergy. You can’t do much about what is in the air that you breathe outside, or the soil where our food is grown, or the water that we drink…but you can definitely do something about what is inside your home. This section discusses, among other things, how to purify the indoor air, using items that are locally available, inexpensive and effective. Just the fact that you can breathe clean air while you are inside, can do wonders to increase your well being. If you find that you have more questions after you have read all of that, just email them to me. I’ll be happy to go over all of them with you. By the time you do finish your reading assignment, you will know more about hormones and allergies than any doctor except Dr. Roby. Hormones and allergies are so intricately interrelated that it is very difficult to see where one begins, and the other ends. Of course, this is the main reason that Dr. Roby chooses to treat them both at the same time. He has found that he gets optimal results in a shorter time that way. Once the hormones start getting back into balance, the symptoms just sort of …fade away.

Please feel free to email me at anytime, with questions, doubts comments on anything that I have said or that you have read on our website.

Graves Disease

location: Appleton, WI

Your Question: In March of 2008 I had radioactive iodine treatment for Graves Disease to kill my thyroid. In August I was told to discontinue use of methimazole and to start taking 100mcgs of levothyroxine as my thyroid activity was now hypo and not hyper.

Within 3 weeks I started to get a tightness in my chest with difficulty breathing so i was told to reduce the dosage to 88mcgs, and finally when that didn’t work to go to 75mcgs. Still not feeling well I discontinued the medicine for two weeks and then began Levoxyl tabs at 25mcgs. At the same time I began to experience and internal shaking (not visible on the outside) and my blood pressure began to spike to 205/96. The doctor then prescribed lisinopryl tabs, 20 mgs, for my blood pressure and then told me to double the Levoxyl to 50mcgs. Although the doctor keeps changing my medications I don’t think they know what is causing my symptoms: extreme insomnia, faintness, internal shaking, blood pressure changes, disorientation and lightheadedness. Are these symptoms attributed to my thryoid condition, or is it a hormone imbalance? I’ve been sick for almost a year and need this to be taken care of so I can go on with my life?

It sounds like an allergic reaction to thyroid meds. Have your doctor order TPO blood levels (measures antibodies to thyroid) and work you up for thyroid antibodies. You may also get these symptoms from hormone imbalance and hormone allergy. Probably you have both issues. If hormone imbalance is part of it, your symptoms will become worse the week before your period; or, the week after it begins, or both.

Download the first chapter of my book, at no cost, from my website www.robyinstitute.com. You can order it from my website or Amazon.com or Amazon Kindle.

Let me know if I can assist you. You have a problem we can readily correct. Your doctor has no clue as we were not taught this in medical school.

Warm regards,

Dr. Roby
